Welcome to the Smart Plug Pilot Focus Group Page
Thank you for agreeing to participate in our smart plug focus group where we are trying to understand different potential benefits of smart plugs.
Two important areas where they can be useful are:
- Learning how much kWh a device in your home is using
- Turning devices or small appliances on and off remotely
How to use Connected Annapolis smart plugs
When plugged into electric appliances or devices, the smart plugs you have in your kit show you how much kWh these items use.
The smart plugs display energy use in watts. A kilowatt-hour (kWh) is equal to the amount
of energy you would use if you kept a 1,000-watt appliance running for one hour.

Suggested devices and appliances include:
For high kWh monitoring:
- Refrigerator
- Window based A/C units
- Vacuum cleaner
For easy remote on/off:
- Lawn sprinklers
- Desk and floor lamps
- Electric plug-in fans
- Coffee maker
- Microwave oven
- Pet feeder
- Aquarium lights
- Outdoor lights
What you need to do
As part of the focus group, we ask that you choose the ways you wish to use the smart plug and let us know how it is going. You can do this by keeping track of your use and filling out our online form.
Please complete the form by August 31, 2021. When you complete the form, we will send you a $50 gift card to the email you provided.
If you have any questions, you can email us at info@connectedannapolis.com or call 1-855-81-CONNECT (1-855-812-6663).
